London Ontario Family Photography | The Charlebois Family
It's always such a pleasure to photograph the Charlebois family, and I am so, so thankful they've stuck with me over the years.
They were one of my very first clients, 3 years and 2 cameras ago, back when I hoped and prayed that someone would book me. Since, I've photographed them three times and have seen them add a fifth member to their lovely family. It's always such a pleasure to photograph the Charlebois family, and I am so, so thankful they've stuck with me over the years. Here are some favourites from our most recent session.

London Ontario Children's Photography | Do What You Love Children's Mini Sessions (Part 1 of 3)
Parents were encouraged to bring their child's favourite thing, and I brought my camera. Everything else was spontaneous and in the moment, and it was truly amazing to capture kids just being themselves.
I have always drawn my biggest inspiration from people's raw emotion - hence the business name. ;) While amazing light, cute outfits, fun props and dreamy locations can all be amazing, if there's no raw emotion, then that essential element is missing, and the image doesn't speak to me as powerfully. Last Winter I introduced my annual children's minis with an adorable vintage prop setup, and they were amazing. But I felt like they weren't *me*. There are lots of photographers that really rock the props, and I love their creative work. But I knew that moving forward, my children's minis would be different. Rather than pose children in my setup, I really wanted to capture them in theirs. I thought about my most treasured photos of my own daughter, and they are the ones that remind exactly what she was like, what she enjoyed, how she interacted, at the time the photo was taken. This is was I wanted to give my clients with minis. And this is how the "Do What You Love" Children's Minis came to be. Parents were encouraged to bring their child's favourite thing, and I brought my camera. Everything else was spontaneous and in the moment, and it was truly amazing to capture kids just being themselves. I absolutely loved these minis and I truly hope that each family treasures these images for a long time. Here are some photos from the first night of minis. It was cold and gloomy and threatened to rain... but that didn't stop us from capturing some really cute kiddos doing what they love. :)
London Ontario Newborn Photographer | Baby Emma's Lifestyle Session
There really is nothing quite like those first magical (and tiring!) few weeks at home with a new baby, and it's always so special for me to be invited to capture that.
When Pamela contacted me months before sweet Emma was due to book her newborn lifestyle session, I was thrilled and honoured. When I found out she was a fellow photographer, I was even more honoured! I've said it time and time again, but truly - it's the biggest compliment and I am always so humbled and surprised and excited when my "colleagues" choose me to document the most important moments of their lives. Baby Emma is so, so beautiful, with a full head of brown hair. There were a few tears the morning of our session, but what I love about lifestyle sessions is that those moments of crying and feeding and changing and soothing don't just happen "in between" the sleepy baby shots. They are an integral part of the session, and we capture it all. I just love all the sweet moments we captured of Emma being comforted and doted on by her adoring parents. There really is nothing quite like those first magical (and tiring!) few weeks at home with a new baby, and it's always so special for me to be invited to capture that. Here are some favourites from our session! -xo
London Ontario Family Photography | The Joose Family
It's always a huge honour when a family trusts me with capturing their memories for them. But when that family includes a fellow photographer (check out Alysha's beautiful work here), it's extra special. The stylishly colour coordinated Joose Family travelled to London for their family photos on a beautiful sunny late-Summer evening. The weather was perfect and it was such a pleasure to have such a beautiful, fun-loving family in front of my lens. Here is a look at our session!
London Ontario Family Photography | The Thompson Family
I know the blog has been a little quiet as of late - it's certainly not for lack of activity around here, but rather quite the opposite! Both my shooting calendar and editing queue are full (for this I am so, so thankful!) and I am working extra hard to make sure everyone gets their photos as quickly as possible in this very busy photography season! This sweet family session took place last month and was such a pleasure to photograph. The beautiful Thompson family is such a fun-loving bunch, and we had a blast exploring this wild field and being silly together. Here's a peek at their session! -xo
London Ontario Lifestyle Newborn Photographer | Baby Kessel
I often find myself explaining to friends and clients the difference between traditional posed studio newborn work (if you're looking for this, I have some wonderful photographers to refer you to!) and my approach, which is commonly referred to as "lifestyle newborn photography". While I still do capture baby on his/her own, I don't pose baby in any unnatural positions, and simply capture his/her delicious sleepy baby goodness with a more natural, organic approach. Much of the session aims to capture mom, dad and siblings at home with baby, going through the daily routines of feeding, changing, rocking and - the most important - snuggling. It's these natural moments, sweet kisses, tender strokes and sweet sibling interactions that I want to capture for you, so that when you look back, you not only have beautiful portraits of your sweet bundle alone, but you have the illustrations to accompany the story of those first few weeks at home with baby. This is how I approach newborn photography, and sweet baby Kessel's session was no exception. What a beautiful, sweet little man. And his vibrant and affectionate big sister was equally a pleasure to photograph. I just loved capturing some moments for this lovely family. Here is a peek at our session! -xo
London Ontario Family Photographer | The deJong Family
Every year I try to donate a session or two to local fundraising auctions, and (lucky me!) this year one of those sessions was won by the lovely deJong Family. We met on a beautiful Summer evening when the light was soft and golden and the weather was just right. A few (hundred) hungry mosquitos didn't stop us from laughing and joking and having an all around good time in our wild field location. I loved seeing how these siblings interacted with each other - goofing around, teasing, giggling, poking, hugging, tickling... It's such a beautiful thing to see brothers and sisters happy together. It's a special bond that is truly incomparable to any other, and it was an honour for me to capture that for the deJong kids. Hope you enjoy a few photos from this seriously good-looking family's session! -xo
London Ontario Family Photographer | Rory, Joslyn and Isla's Port Stanley Beach Session
Oh, how I loved this session! This was my third beach session this Summer, and thankfully each time I've been graced with beautiful evening sunlight! This little family is so adorable and sweet, and little Isla is so much fun. I love a family that isn't afraid to get a little dirty, and these guys were definitely up for the challenge! By the end of the session, we were all soaked and covered in sand - but the amazing, candid moments we captured throughout the evening were SO worth it. Rory, Joslyn and Isla - I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!! -xo p.s. I am always so honoured when another photographer asks me to document their special moments. Check out Joslyn's work here!
